Program Manager, Azure Student Developer Growth + Ecosystems

The Growth and Ecosystem Team’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of Azure by engaging with developers in their communities, removing complexity for our customers to help them derive value from our platform. At its core, the student developer team’s charter is to attract more student developers to our ecosystem and help ensure they choose Azure and Microsoft dev tools in the future. We are at the core of transformation across Microsoft – with significant opportunity for you to influence how student devs use and perceive the Microsoft cloud in scenarios like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cross-Platform App Development, and High-Performance Computing.

We’re looking for a highly-motivated and strategically-focused talent with strong messaging, social marketing and program management skills to lead Imagine Cup and student developer audience strategy including how we digitally dialog, attract, and deliver relationship management with university professors and student developers across the globe. As a Program Manager in Azure Student Developer Growth + Ecosystems, the core impact of this role is managing and growing our university student engagement including working globally to message and drive engagement through Imagine Cup. Your day-to-day might include:

  • Lead the executive production of the Imagine Cup World Finals annual Tier 1 event, including business development with internal and external partners and sponsors.

  • Lead and define our audience strategy for professors and student developers including creating and maintaining messaging and positioning frameworks, style guides, and messaging strategy.

  • Build relationships and dialog between Microsoft and students / faculty vis a vis outbound communications and social engagement to drive excitement and skills using Microsoft developer products.

  • Work with our customer evidence team to drive the most impactful academic stories to light up across key GTMs related to students and higher-education ecosystems, and partner with same team to shape our social media strategy.

  • Represent the Student Developer team in key PR and Comms work streams.

  • Oversee the Microsoft student developer brand identity, including the creative identity and technical communications BOM.

  • Work with our global teams to message and market local Imagine Cup events and offers.

  • Create weekly and monthly summaries of social/communications and develop strategies of further engagement from the data collected.

  • Lead cross team engagement of outbound communication ensuring the team is aware and understands communication strategies and key activities.

The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated, self-starter with a strong strategic acumen who thrives amidst ambiguity, has a can-do attitude, has strong intuitions about what resonates with students that is shaped by your experiences working on programs to drive student and developer adoption of technologies.

  • Passion for technology with some subject matter expertise in Azure and open source technologies.

  • A willingness to learn, share, and improve. Ability to self-study; ramp to latest technologies.

  • Understanding of university faculty and student developer audiences, and why/how they make choices about the technologies they use

  • Strong core skills in program management and project management especially in a fast-moving, changing environment of emerging technology

  • Excellent written, verbal presentation, and communications skills - including the keen ability to translate complex ideas into various mediums for effective, audience-appropriate consumption.

  • Ability to work under deadlines and prioritize several complex projects and tightly manage a budget

  • An ability to communicate complex ideas to audiences with various technical backgrounds

  • Experience executing global programs at scale through worldwide field roles – prior experience interacting with technical audiences is highly desired
